The apartment is  on the Orihuela Costa in the community of Las Violetas.

Villamartin Square

There are many restaurants in and around the area offering international cuisine.  There is a large selection of bars, shops and restaurants in the square, just a 2 minute walk from the apartment.

At the centre of the square are the palm trees inhabited by many parrots.  The calling parrots can be heard throughout the area.  The square has a lovely family atmosphere during the day and early evening.  There are plenty of bars and clubs staying open through to the early hours. 

The square also has an excellent supermarket which stocks Spanish, English and German food.  They stock quite a few Waitrose products too! 

Los Doses is another popular area in the evenings.  It is about 10 minutes walk away and has some nice bars and restaurants.  Along the coastal road you will find many more shops, bars and an excellent choice of restaurants. 

Open air markets are popular in Spain.  It is possible to visit a different market every day.  Many bargains can be found and are definitely worth a visit.

The Lively fishing port and marina of Torrevieja is only a 15 minute drive away, with sea-food restaurants, clubs, large open air market and a beautiful promenade.  Evening street stalls, a marina, yacht club plus many cafes, bars, restaurants and casino.  The renowned Real Club Nautico has over 1500 moorings.  For the children there is a Tivoli (fun fair), Aqua Park, and go karting.  Torrevieja has miles of beautiful beaches on which many water sports can be found.  There are also churches and museums in Torrevieja. There is also the new shopping area of Haberneras. which has excellent shops.   Nearby there is bowling, cinema and other family entertainment.

Interesting Spanish towns lie all around as well as beautiful beaches.  The cosmopolitan city of Alicante with beach, international harbour, excellent museums and galleries is a 45 minute drive away.  The Castle in Alicante is worth a visit.  It houses many modern works of art.

Further up the coast towards Benidorm is the theme park Terra Mitica.

Close to the apartment you will be able to find horse riding, mountain biking, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, climbing, and flying. 

Hiring bikes to tour the local area is very popular.

In the summer there is a very regular bus service from  the square that will take you to Torreviejca and La Zenia beach.

There are three Blue Flag beeches only minutes away by car.  Cabo Roig, La Zenia and Campoamor.  Due to the wonderful climate all year round the Costa Blanca enjoys over 320 days of sunshine annually.  Other beaches include Las Palmeras, Torrevieja and Torre del al Horadada.  Most water sports can be found in the area.  Most beaches have bars/cafes for drinks and light lunches.
